Honor in Life, Glory in Death
Ancient Creed of the Cavalier
Before most of the knightly orders came into existence, there
were mounted warriors and warriors with a code. These men were
known as cavaliers. They fought nobly and honorably. They fought
by a code and took an oath. These codes and oaths were not and
are not universal, but their value to the cavalier is.
In many regions, the cavaliers have disappeared. In Yellowia,
they are replaced with the Eshalmon. In the Destroytian
Republic, they are replaced by the Knights of the Republic. Even
in Icefia, where the once king and now deity of cavaliers lived;
the cavalier has been mostly replaced by the Knight of the White
Sword. One of the few nations left where the traditional art
form of the cavalier is taught is in the Orcish Empire.
Fighters are the dominant class among cavaliers. There are some
paladins and a few rangers, but most other classes cannot expend
the effort training to learn the difficult skills required.
Humans and orcs are the most common cavaliers by far. There are
no known cavaliers of many of the other races.

Class Features
 | Weapon and Armor Proficiencies:
If the Cavalier does not have proficiency
in light and medium armor, and in all simple and martial weapons, he gains
those proficiencies. He also gains one Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat which
he must use to select a melee weapon, but he losses proficiency in all
martial and exotic ranged weapons, and may never take a feat to gain
proficiency in them. |
 | Master Horseman:
The Cavalier gains a +4 competency bonus to
all ride skill checks. He receives a +2 synergy bonus to all physical skill
checks while riding a horse (such as: Balance, Tumble, etc.) |
 | Fearless:
The code of the Cavalier will not allow him to
back down. He is immune to all fear-based attacks, and automatically
succeeds all fear-based saves. He cannot be intimidated via the Intimidation
skill. |
 | Lance Technique:
The Cavalier’s endless hours of training to perfection give him a +2
competency bonus to attack rolls when using a lance. |
 | Bonus Feat:
The Cavalier may choose from the following feats when he gains a bonus feat:
Armor Familiarity, Acrobatic, Agile, Athletic, Blind-Fighting, Great
Fortitude, Lightning Reflexes, Improved Critical, Improved Initiative, Iron
Will, Leadership, Trample, Ride-by Attack, Spirited Charge, Weapon
Specialization, Greater Weapon Focus, Greater Weapon Specialization,
Toughness, or Self Sufficient. |
 | Physical Training: The work ethic
and regiment of the Cavalier is second to none. His fitness is paramount to
his code and his life. When this ability is gained, the Cavalier may
permanently add one to his Dexterity, Strength, or Constitution. |
 | Master Horseman 2: The Cavalier may
apply the effects of any of his feats, such as Dodge, to his horse. |
 | Devastating Charge: When the
Cavalier charges while mounted, he deals double damage. If he already deals
double damage, it is tripled. If he already deals triple damage, he now
deals quadruple. |
 | Sword Technique: The Cavalier’s
endless hours of training to perfection give him a +2 competency bonus to
attack rolls when using a medium or large sword. The bonus is reduced to +1
when using a small sword. |
 | Battlefield Leader: When leading a
charge, all others charging within 100 feet gain a +1 morale bonus to attack
rolls. The mere presence of the Cavalier gives those within 100 feet a +2
morale bonus to Charm, Fear, and Emotion-based saving throws. |
 | Shield Technique: The Cavalier’s
endless hours of training to perfection give him a +2 competency bonus to
armor class when using a large shield. The bonus is reduced to +1 when using
a small shield. |
 | Hero’s Display: Once per week, the
Cavalier can call upon all of his training in one tremendous display. For
ten rounds, he gains a +4 bonus to Strength, Constitution, and Dexterity. He
also gains a +2 bonus to Willpower saves. At the end of the ten minutes, he
is exhausted until he receives a full night’s rest. This is an extraordinary
ability.
