Xavier Foreshot
Within Port Talp, the Foreman
family is known for their expert blacksmithing, making a name for themselves
several generations ago with their high quality, ornamental iron work.
Xavier had repeatedly pushed his father to expand their business to include
cannon production, seeing it as a potentially huge market in the port city.
His father steadfastly refused, claiming "the slightest mistake in their
production could cost too many people their lives." Frustrated by his
father's continued resistance, Xavier simply quit his family business, with
much resentment from his family, and started working as an apprentice to
Gnesser Highcal, a local gnomish cannonsmith and retired Master Gunner on
the Corsair ship Grey's Diamond Edge. Xavier studied under Gness for
about a year, learning everything he could about the use and production of
cannon and the other large ship-based siege weapons that they would
occasionally be commissioned to build.
It was during one of his routine trips to the docks that he saw a wanted
poster for crew for a Corsair ship. Inspired by the stories of
adventure related to him by Gness and looking to put his newfound skills to
the test, he made up his mind on the spot. The next day he joined the crew
of the Vigilant Seas under the name Xavier Foreshot, which he deemed more
apropos for his position.
A recent near-fatal cannon failure aboard the Vigilant Seas has left Xavier
partially deaf in his left ear. The experience did, however, serve to
renew his faith in Tfop; he can be heard whispering a prayer for good luck
every time he lights a fuse.

Tactics: Xavier is most comfortable amidst the roaring, smoking
of the cannon on the gun deck, but will occasionally venture on to the deck
of the ship to lend his pistol is the situation dictates. He avoids melee
combat to the best of his ability, preferring to blast holes in his target
from a distance.
