Vega Blackbattle
Vega is a master of
information of all things Port Springs related, often claiming that if he
doesn't know it, he knows where to find it.
Vega was born and raised in the sprawling city, the only child of an
inter-clan marriage between a Stonespell and a Blackbattle. From a
middle class family in the Main City, Vega spent his youth working to help
his parents make ends meet. After performing several odd-jobs around the
city, he eventually found long term employment working as a messenger for
the Constablatory, thanks to his mother's brother Dargoo, then only a
Constable of the Main City. As a result, Vega learned much about the
city and its players at a very young age.
Upon reaching adulthood, Vega officially joined the Constablatory with only
a little persuasion from his Uncle Dargoo. After completing his
training, his first assignment was supposed to be minimal risk (thanks to
his uncle). When renowned troublemaker Daane Silversword returned to
Port Springs in the year 781 looking to enlist the help of “adventurers,”
Vega was assigned to infiltrate the group to monitor the activities of Daane
and his companions. The scope of his assignment abruptly changed when
the group uncovered the horrifying plans of a highly secretive cabal known
as the Day Turned Dark to return demons to Habololy. With the Day
Turned Dark effectively preventing an official investigation by the
Constablatory through a web of corrupt judges and politicians, the task of
exposing the cabal and disrupting their schemes became the primary focus of
the undercover Vega, Daane, and companions.
Short, even by dwarven standards, Vega is slim and light on his feet, thanks
to his Blackbattle parentage. His hair and beard are light brown and
kept neatly trimmed, though his beard is cloven at the chin thanks to a scar
left over from an assassination attempt. On the streets of Port
Springs, Vega can typically be seen dressed in dull black leather armor.
A wickedly sharp short sword and a stout mace hang from his belt, and
several wands are usually tucked into a sheath in his boot.

Vega's true strength is in information. Few know
more about Port Springs, and he often claims that if he doesn't know
it, he knows where to find it. Frequently dealing with the seedier
side of people, he approaches every encounter with suspicion,
checking every detail with a critical eye and looking for that one
piece of information that doesn't make sense.
In combat, Vega is a mobile fighter and will always attempt to flank
his opponent and strike at a vulnerable area, often finding a gap or
soft spot in his opponent's defenses. Vega is smart enough to know
he does not excel at 1-on-1 combat, and will often break away from a
face-to-face fight to find a more advantageous position. When forced
into a solo fight, he relies on the blinking ability of his armor to
help him catch his opponent off guard, and takes full advantage of
the defending property of his mace in his off-hand to block his
opponent's blows. |
