Ri the Redeemed
Ri grew up in a
mindflayer town underneath the String Mountains. He lived there for
many years learning the ways of his people. One day, his life was
changed forever. Ri’s town was tricked by a Drow into attacking a
group of powerful clerics and paladins. Many of Ri’s people fled or
were killed by the group that they had attacked. Ri, not wanting to
meet the fate of his people, decided to ask the group for mercy. He
was particularly drawn to Solaris and asked for protection. Solaris
agreed and Ri traveled with him learning the ways of Hemator. This
process was very tough for Ri and the struggled with all the evils that are
typical of mindflayer heritage.
One fateful day the conversion of Ri was complete. Solaris and his
group encountered the Stalker of the Dead who has been seeking the
destruction of Solaris ever since he played a part in his ascension to
sainthood. Solaris, not being ready to fight the Stalker, told Ri to come
with him. "We must leave here right away." Solaris then called
on a mighty blessing from Hemator and shifted himself and Ri to the Seven
Heavens where Ri then came face to face with Hemator. When Ri returned
to Habololy he was able to manifest his natural psychic energy into the
shape of a plus, Hemator’s holy symbol. Again, Hemator had used the
Stalker to create a powerful force in her faith.
Ri and Solaris believe that if he continues in the ways of Hemator that she
will connect his psychic energy with the goodness of the Seven Heavens and
grant Ri the power to destroy undead with the combined energies.
