Season 1
Session 1: Travel to New Adventure (2 Napay 783 to 16 Progonust 783)
 |
After the battle
north of the Great Forest, Solaris and his traveling companion
Keldaan arrive to meet with Ajax. Solaris presents Ajax with a
sword he had been given by an oracle of Hemator, named Kingmaker.
Keldaan, not enjoying the company of Ash and the lawful faithful,
leaves. Ajax prays with the sword and along with his horse,
Brightsoul, are directed to go to the northwest. Haas and
Lennie decide to travel to the String Mountains to help their
brother Cobalt, and they must travel that direction to reach a port.
Shadow leaves for Lynkeed. Grant remains in the Great Forest. |
 |
Ash leads the group
through the wilderness to the northwest. After several weeks,
they reach the Amber Lands, known as Barnstenagor. They stop
at the halfling farm town of Shroom. |
 |
Several days later,
they are chased and attacked by strangely colored and sized trolls.
After defeating the creature, they realize that the trolls are
somehow outer planer and their regeneration is not able to be
stopped normally. Unable to destroy most of them, they bury
the remains under a wall of stone and leave. |
 |
That night, they are
approached by a human. He introduces himself as Henry, a
Nightingale and a member of the Temple of the Plains. He tells
them of the Chaos Trolls, their creator a cult avatar known as Lench,
and his efforts to raise up a militia of sorts from the lands to
defeat the trolls, which now number over three hundred. He
also says that Lench is able to cause this troll induced chaos every
few decades when he captures a chaos troll and breeds them.
Henry then leads them towards Palumbton. |
Session 2: Meet and Greet and Split Up (16 Progonust 783 to
21 Progonust 783)
 |
The group reaches
North Palumbton where they meet Koth, Malek, and Daane. After
several days of discussion, talking, debate, and stories, Henry
tells Koth that he is needed to rally the many towns of Barnstenagor
against the Chaos Trolls, and then against the many other evils that
live in the lands. Only then, with the lands united, can they
possibly withstand the Orcish Army. Koth sullenly agrees, as
long as Henry remains in North Palumbton to watch the town. |
 |
Malek spends days
researching the Chaos Trolls and finds out everything about them.
He tells Solaris that they can probably detect him at a great
distance. |
 |
Ajax, Haas, and
Lennie go to Palumbton to speak with Maunus the high cleric.
They tell him what has happened, convince them they are true, and
give him advice. |
 |
The group spends a
day in prayer. Ajax is guided to help Koth's mission in
collecting and leading the peoples of Barnstenagor. Haas is
lead to go to the String Mountains to help Cobalt and Lennie goes
with him, as well as Daane. Solaris is told that he must leave
the town by Hemator for unknown reasons. The group eats
together, says goodbye, and splits. |
 |
Ajax, Ash, Koth, and
Malek go to Palumbton to speak with Jake. Ajax also takes time
to antagonize the shrine of Sutyr. Jake says he cannot help
them, but he suggests they go speak with a halfling rival of his,
Foram. |
 |
After summoning
mounts, and getting Heath the messenger and Plainsrunner to travel
with them, the group heads south quickly. After one day of
travel, the group is assaulted by a group of the Chaos Trolls.
The fight is brutal but short, and the group is able to destroy most
of the two dozen and the rest flee. |
Session 3: Trolls Near Furyview and Northbend (21 Progonust
783 to 25 Progonust 783)
 |
The group spends the
night trying to destroy the remains of the trolls. After hours
of research and attempts, they destroy the last of the trolls.
Exhausted, the group follows Heath to the nearest town to rest. |
 |
Once in Furyview,
Ajax tries to convince the leader to join them in their quest to
stop the trolls. The town is hesitant, even though they are
happy with Koth's efforts to defeat the Bane and the trolls.
The group spends the night and then leaves. |
 |
While traveling
south, the group encounters two strange brown eagles that follow
them and then land to speak with them. The eagles have the
ability to transform into humans. They offer to help the
group, namely Ajax. The eagles fly off to search for trolls.
They return two days later with word of refugees from a town.
The group rides to find the refugees. |
 |
When they find the
people, several hundred in number, they are told that trolls drove
them out of the home, the town of Northbend, and are holding a
number of their townsfolk hostage. A human named the Enforcer
of Chaos has demanded they return and bend to the will of Choas or
the hostages will be eaten or enslaved and the town will be
destroyed. The townsfolk don't know what to do, and are
currently only searching for a place to rest. Koth and Ajax
tell the people they will go to their town and free the hostages.
They ask for volunteers to help and eight men agree. They are
given bows and magical mounts. The group rides to the town. |
 |
At the edge of town,
the eagles scout and report back that there are near 40 trolls in
the town and the hostages are likely in the town hall. The
group prepares for ten minutes when Malek summons a creature of
Mechanus. The trolls sense the creature and begin towards the
group. Soon after, the fight begins, with Malek's summoned
horde, Ajax, and Koth fighting dozen of trolls. Ajax destroys
the evil ones with his glory. It takes only a minute to
dispatch the trolls, or cause them to flee. The group moves
slowly into the town. |
 |
The eagles report
that one troll remains in the town hall with the hostages. The
group approaches, leaving Ash and the townsfolk to watch the
defeated trolls and prevent their regeneration until Malek could
destroy them. The remaining troll reveals himself as he is
about to eat a human hostage. It is a massive two headed, four
armed troll. They demand it leave and when it refuses, Malek
sends his horde. They cannot reach the troll. He them
disintegrates the front wall so that the others can charge into the
hall. Koth, Ajax and the creature of Mechanus attack.
The troll fights back, and even confuses Ajax. Koth however,
enraged, enlarged, blessed, strengthened, and hastened cannot be
denied. He knocks the troll through the back wall of the hall.
Malek has his creatures subdue Ajax and Koth knocks him out.
Malek makes many attempt and finally destroys the massive troll's
body. |
Session 4: Intimidation and Diplomacy Take a Turn (25 Progonust
783 to 12 Bastion Sun 783)
 |
The group spends
three days in Northbend waiting for the townsfolk to return and
helping out. They discover that all of the towns shrines have
been burned down. The second night, the enforcer of Chaos, who
had been described by the townsfolk, appears and wants to talk, but
Ajax charges him and he disappears. They collect the towns
animals that had run away. When the townsfolk return, Koth and
Ajax ask the people to help them fight the trolls throughout the
land. Some agree and will wait in the town until the group
returns. |
 |
The group travels
south towards Cherrydown. When they reach the town, they
quickly find and talk to Foram, the halfling gladiator who agrees to
help them and will take them to talk to the so-called Cherry Duke,
leader of the town. They go to his home, which is lavish, and
find a cowardly opulent halfling who they intimidate into
submission. The next day, they again stop the halfling from
talking his cowardly words as they address the town.
About fifty residents in addition to Foram and his students agree to
travel with the group. |
 |
They head back toward
Northbend. On the way, the scare off Ettins and encounter some
Pumas that like the eagles they met can change into human form.
The Pumas agree to aid Ajax. The group discovers from the
eagles that every year for at least the past five, creatures have
been suddenly able to turn into humans. Beavers, mice, pumas,
eagles, and so on have been encountered by the eagles. The
group cannot discover any reason why this is happening. |
 |
They reach the town
where they contact the Temple of the Plains and Henry. The
Rabbit Guard arrive from the temple to help, as well as Ash with the
men from Furyview who agreed to help. Ajax begins to train
them. Once again, the enforcer of Chaos arrives. They
begin to parley with him, but he starts to shout fearful words
towards the training militia. Ajax and Malek attack, but once
again, he disappears. |
Session 5: Spreading the Word to Friend and Foe (12
Bastion Sun 783 to 23 Bastion Sun 783)
 |
The enforcer drops a
glass disc which the group cannot destroy and determines is used by
him to scrye, teleport and other things. Malek has an
elemental bury to disc. |
 |
Koth, Malek and Heath
travel to several towns, asking for assistance. They gather
some recruits, and discover that some have already left to help
after hearing from the Amberland Duet, for whom the group has been
looking for weeks. They return to Northbend. |
 |
The group is told by
the eagle Toph that the duet is approaching. They go out to
meet and greet the two bards and then bring them into the town.
Jarod and Hommon, the two members of the duet, answers many
questions the group has about Barnstenagor. They tell the
group that they have been spreading the word that the mighty Koth is
gathering forces to defeat the trolls. They also discover that
an old companion of Koth's, Malchia, has taken a shield from the
lands that would have helped Koth untie the people. |
 |
A plainsrunner
arrives, telling Koth that a town to the south is about to be
attacked by trolls. Koth, Malek, Ajax, and the eagles
immediately go south. They reach the town, set up defenses,
and await the trolls. The trolls charge only after they are
stirred when Malek summons an creature of law. The fight is
quick, as the group knows exactly how to deal with the trolls.
Despite Malek's summons being strangely scaled instead of Celestial,
the trolls are defeated. The inevitable he summoned spots the
enforcer and is immediately disintegrated by him. The group,
on magical flying steeds, charges. However, the enforcer
disappears as they approach. The thankful town sends 50 men
with Koth to help the fight. |
 |
When the group
returns to Northbend, Ash informs them that a Plainsrunner from the
Duke of Chill is waiting in town to speak with Koth. |
Session 6: Hope Followed by Despair (23
Bastion Sun 783 to 12 Coustus 784)
 |
The group meets with
Terrance, the plainsrunner of the Duke of Chill. Koth and
Malek agree to go to Safoste to meet with him. Ajax remains
behind to help the militia. At the meeting with the duke, they
agree that they have a common enemy and that the duke will send his
second best cleric and 50 soldiers. He will also contact them
every other day so that Koth can ask questions of the duke. |
 |
Back in Northbend,
the men of Grommel and Southvale arrive. After Koth and Malek
return, they head north, planning on stopping at elven forest towns
along the way. They have Henry send word to allies in the
forest of their arrival. When they arrive at the first town,
they are met by an elven cleric named Ilyena who tells them that
elves from each town are readying to help. |
 |
Malek take Ajax to
Palumbton, where he convinces Maunus to take his orcs south with as
many Palumbtons as he can mass. They decide, after a
conversation with the duke of chill, to meet at Hilltops. The
trolls are moving towards the group. Koth and Ajax hopes that
all of their forces can gather at Hilltops before the trolls arrive. |
 |
Luckily, all of the
groups arrive at Hilltops a day ahead of the trolls. The men
of Hilltops, lead by Todd, have a battle plan ready. Hilltops
was settled to be a fort against Ettin, so the town is perfect.
With spells and men in place, Koth gives a rousing speech and they
wait. |
 |
As the trolls
approach, the group begins to cast their spells. Within a
minute of the trolls' arrival, an Avoral summoned by Malek rushes
into the town yelling the trolls are an illusion. Almost
immediately after that, a massive illusion appears overhead of a
bloody Slaadi. The majority of the men drop dead. The
Avoral then notices that the troll army is invisibly approaching
from the other direction and will arrive in about 15 minutes. |
Session 7: The Battle at Hilltops (12 Coustus 784)
 |
As all of the
survivors gather, a debate as to what should be done erupts.
It is finally decided that some will stay behind to secure a retreat
for the others. Those that are going to remain run to the
other side of town with the cleric of Frostine, who leaves after
erecting two walls of ice. Malek sends the Avoral to scout the
trolls, while the inevitable searches for the enforcer of chaos.
Heath is sent to the Temple of the Plains to tell of the horrors,
while the others simply start heading away. |
 |
Scain arrives and is
told what happened. He agrees to help by searching the town
with Ash. They discover that the warriors aren't dead, but
illusioned. Ajax also discovers this while searching the
bodies around the western entrance for a sword for Koth. They
determine that only those at the eastern entrance were Weirded,
everyone else has been put to sleep and illusioned. The group
quickly works to awaken some and are only successful in dispelling
the men of Grommel and waking them up. Ash and Scain discover
invisible trolls in the town dismembering sleeping warriors.
They go into the town to kill them. |
 |
The group sends word
to those that had left, except Heath, to return. As they
return, the group prepares again. Malek leaves the town and
goes to the southern flank, where he begins to summon his horde of
creatures. |
 |
As those inside ready
themselves, most are overcome by an illusion. Luckily, those
that remain unaffected are able to help the others recover in time
to the trolls. Ajax uses a mighty glorious spell, but it is
dispelled. The trolls get nearer and before he can use it
again, a maw of chaos opens underneath Ajax, Koth, Maunus, Foram,
and Fyodor breaking the first line of defense in the entrance to the
town. The trolls rush forward, led by a Slaadi. |
 |
Malek's horde engages
the trolls and ties up over one hundred of them. He then
wrestles control of the Slaadi away from its master and turns it on
the trolls. Koth, Ajax, and Maunus stuff the trolls advance
while the others lend support. Waves of chaos hammers pummel
Ajax, but he endures. The group finally decides to fall back
and put up walls of ice to regroup. The trolls are being
slaughtered, but the majority are regenerating. |
 |
As they regroup, one
of the common warriors utters a word of chaos, killing all of the
warriors and Andrew the cleric of Frostine; while confusing several
others. No one is sure what has happened and the same man
kills Maunus by disintegrating him. Realizing that it must be
the enforcer, everyone attacks. Malek's inevitable anchors the
enforcer while Koth knocks him through a wall. The enforcer
bursts from the rubble in a form they all recognize from before.
Scain and Ash return and begin to attack him from behind. Ajax
and Koth charge. Overwhelmed, the enforcer attempts to cast a
spell but is simultaneously cleaved in three by Koth and Ajax. |
 |
Ajax turns his
attention to the coming trolls and finally brings the glorious might
of Stasis to bear, causing most to run and the rest to retreat.
When the group looks back to the enforcer's body, the looming figure
of a giant Slaadi is there. It says it is the Collector and it
has come for the sword. The group allows it to take the
enforcer's sword. After that, a small cloaked figure,
appearing as one would envision Chaos himself walks up and demands
the body of the enforcer or five towns will burn the next day.
Ajax immediately changes and the figure disappears. |
Session 8: The Battle at Mount Fury (12 Coustus 784
to 17 Coustus 784)
 |
The group sends the
eagles to follow the troll horde. Koth and Malek return to
North Palumbton and then Palumbton to check on their families and to
look for Roy the cleric of Tyrogatore. Before they leave, Koth
discovers that his younger sister Kayla is with the warriors from
North Palumbton. She tells him that she had watched him and
had been trained by Daane since she was kidnapped by the Bane years
ago. Ajax is excited by this news and begins to teach her.
Koth allows her to stay with the army. |
 |
Ajax gathers the
militias to follow the trolls after a day. For a day, they
trail the pack, lead by Scain. They receive word that the
trolls have turned direction, so they stop. A day later,
Solaris arrives. He tells the group he has been asked to leave
the elven forest when undead enter to attack him. He begins to
tell Ajax why he is there, but realizes time is of the essence, as
the trolls are not tracking Solaris. When Koth and Malek
return, they move Solaris as a decoy away from the militias and
towards the mountain. The trolls move that way. |
 |
Word reaches the
group that the clerics of the Temple of the Plains want to come to
help. Malek teleports there and takes Henry and Evan with him.
Junior tells them to expect more help at the mountain, and that the
Duke of Chill has agreed to help as well. Malek uses teleports
to get them all to Mount Fury. Once they, they are joined by a
cleric of Tommimao Plainsrunner and a Guardian Avoral Plainsrunner.
Roy O'Bannon, the new high cleric of Tyrogatore, joins them from
Palumbton. Morton of Mount Fury, and a Tyradin Flamemaster
that introduces himself as the Tyrantmaker join the group.
Ajax, Scain, and Ash go to them to discuss tactics when Ajax
realizes who the Tyadin, named Gerton Hepp is there. He
charges. Many of the other clerics. Solaris, the Duke of
Chill, Morton, and Solaris manage to incapacitate Ajax. They
incase him in stone and try to speak with him. When their
efforts fail to persuade him, the Duke of Chill suggests that
although he disagrees with Ajax, his help is more useful than the
tyradin. They ask the cleric of Sutyr to not join the battle
and he agrees. |
 |
The plan, developed
by Scain at the request of Koth, is to have the militia prevent the
trolls from escaping while the clerics will take the high ground and
fend off the attack. The trolls should continue to come after
Solaris. Roy adds that the army of Palumbton, 5,000 strong
will prevent the trolls from moving east, leaving them only the west
as a retreat. The army of Palumbton is lead by Jake, Foram,
and Korda. Ajax will lead the militias with Kayla, Scain, and
Ash. All of the other will be with the clerics. |
 |
When the battle
begins, The duke of chill summons a mighty Ice Elemental that
disrupts the entire troll horse. Ajax and Solaris destroy evil
trolls from a distance. Koth, Solaris, Roy, and Stelete the
Avoral charge the Slaadi leading the trolls. Guided by the
Eagleweres, they are able to kill seven of the Slaadi. On the
other side, Ajax charges in and kills one of the Slaadi leaders.
Scain and Ash direct the arches to kill the last Slaadi; all of the
arrows having been enchanted with Lawful energy. |
 |
Morton delivers a
barrage of lightning, while Henry and Even use their blessings to
aid the warriors. Malek's horde of animals protects the
warriors from the trolls until the Slaadi are dead, when they turn
on the trolls. With the Slaadi dead, the trolls begin to
break. They are slaughtered on three sides with only several
dozen escaping to the west. |
 |
The militia and the
clerics hunt down the trolls that fled the battle, leaving only
several small groups that had broken off days before to track and
kill in the future. The army from Palumbton returns to the
city, followed by most of the militias. Koth memorably
declares to Ajax: "You are dead to me." |
 |
Everyone, except the
clerics of Sutyr who do not attend, celebrates in Palumbton.
During the celebration, a stranger from the String Mountains, a
barbarian, arrives to speak with Malek about his heritage. |
Epilogue:
 |
When the ceremony has
ended, Ajax calls out the clerics of Sutyr. They do not answer
his call. |
|
